Wolverine and Sabretooth unite! Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber have ‘X-Men’ reunion

Hugh Jackman and Liev Schreiber — also known as Wolverine and Sabretooth from the X-Men franchise — are together again.

Sixteen years after they costarred in the 2009 movie X-Men Origins: Wolverine, the two are simultaneously appearing in two different off-Broadway plays. Jackman is in Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes, while Schreiber appears in Creditors. The shows are produced by both Audible and Together, a new company that Jackman and producer Sonia Friedman launched to create intimate and accessible live theater.

Now and then!!!,” Jackman wrote in a social media post that included images of the actors together now and while making their X-Men film. “Amazing to be back together in a rehearsal studio. While we’re working on two distinctly different plays – most performances are back to back.”

Jackman explained that Schreiber was the kind of actor he had in mind for his company.

“When Sonia and I set out to create Together Productions, we made a list of actors who we’d love to join us. Liev answered the call,” he said. “Can’t wait to get back on the stage. (My first time in an off Broadway production). And then to dream of what and who comes for the next round of plays. Excited and curious.”

In his new project, Jackman plays acclaimed, middle-aged novelist and university professor Jon, who’s “staring down the end of his third marriage,” according to Audible. “Enter Annie – nineteen years old, a star student and a huge fan of Jon’s work. An undeniable attraction draws them into dangerous territory.” His considerably younger student will be played by Ella Beatty, the daughter of Warren Beatty and Annette Bening. Written by Hannah Moscovitch and directed by Ian Rickson, shows begin April 28.

Creditors costars Maggie Siff and Justice Smith in the play written by August Strindberg and adapted by Jen Silverman. The psychological thriller, about what happens when a painter connects with a “magnetic stranger,” played by Schreiber, is also directed by Rickson. “Talk into the night devolves into an intricate web of deception, seduction and revelation, where the lives of all involved may be destroyed or transformed,” the official description reads. The production debuts May 10.
