United Airlines Brings Back Elite Status Match Program — What to Know

United Airlines has just dropped its new wave of status match applications for 2025, giving travelers the chance to enjoy elite status perks for a limited time.

“We are pleased to offer you the opportunity to participate in our 2025 MileagePlus Premier Status Match Challenge, offering top-tier flyers of many other airlines a way to quickly reach comparable status in the MileagePlus program,” the airline shared about the promotion on its website.

Elite status holders from eligible airlines can apply by filling out this form by June 30, 2025. After approval, travelers must take a United or United Express flight within 90 days. Then, United elite status will be granted within five to seven business days:

  • Match to United Silver with Alaska MVP, American Airlines Gold, British Airways Bronze, Delta Silver, JetBlue Mosaic 1, Southwest A-List, and Qantas Silver
  • Match to United Gold: Alaska MVP Gold, American Airlines Platinum, British Airways Silver, Delta Gold, JetBlue Mosaic 2 or 3, Southwest A-List, and Qantas Gold
  • Match to United Platinum: Alaska MVP Gold 75K, American Airlines Platinum Pro, British Airways Gold, Delta Platinum, JetBlue Mosaic 4, and Qantas Platinum or Platinum One

It’s possible to extend status benefits through January 2026 by achieving a combination of Premier Qualifying Flights (PQFs) and Premier Qualifying Points (PQPs) during the 120-day promotional window:

  • Keep United Silver by flying 5 PQFs and earn 1,700 PQPs on flights operated by United or United Express
  • Keep United Gold by flying 10 PQFs and earn 3,400 PQPs on flights operated by United or United Express
  • Keep United Platinum by flying 15 PQFs and earn 5,000 PQPs on flights operated by United or United Express

Travelers must be ready to submit proof of their current elite status level with a membership card that states their full name, status level, expiration date, and frequent flier number. In addition, this status match promotion is only available to those who haven’t participated in a similar program or received a status exception from the airline within the last five years.
