“First, let me say I’m a complete novice at sharpening and have never sharpened anything in my life before buying this sharpener. I originally purchased this sharpener only to sharpen an old pair of kitchen shears I’m quite fond of, which were so dull from repeated use they’d hardly cut anything anymore. I had my doubts it would work for me or be very easy to use due to my inexperience sharpening and lack of having a clue as to how to do it. I must say, I was quite surprised at how well it worked and how easy it was even for me to use. […] After only a minute or two of trying the sharpener, I had the scissors cutting again like they hadn’t in years. Not to mention, it was so easy to sharpen them that I was able to do it after quickly reading through the directions once, too. I was so impressed that I decided to try it out on a cheap pair of dollar-store scissors that would only cut paper and not particularly well at that. “When this sharpener came, I picked up the box, and it was so light I thought I’d been sent an empty box. But no, it was in there. So small and light easy to store, and works great. The suction cup is simple and effective. I mostly use the ceramic blade and run the knife just a few times, and it comes out nice and sharp.” —Timo H
“I have kept one on my desk for year(s) to keep my letter opener and scissors razor sharp. I am 89 and have had a couple of strokes, so I only have one working hand. It vacuums to my desk. After a couple of days of slicing open letters, it is a little dull. A couple of strokes on the ceramic V, and it’s back to slicing. I always take one with me when visiting friends as a gift. A couple of weeks ago, my computer guy saw it on my desk. His wife had been bugging him to help her in the kitchen by keeping the knives sharp, so I gave him the extra one on my desk. “Had this sharpener about a year. Still works great! Excellent for scissors as well as knives. The countertop suction works great, and it’s easy to clean. I love that the unit collects the metal shards in the cup base. Just tap it in the garbage bin and it comes clean. No little metal filings all over the place. “I have an old butcher knife that was so dull you could see the edge. After about a half hour with the old traditional whetstone, I gave up. I ordered the sharpener, and within 48 hours, it was attached to my counter, ready to go. Within 4 minutes, I could cut a newspaper with the blade. I was totally amazed.
