This Airline Just Launched a New York to Montreal Route—and It Serves Free Wine and Beer

Porter Airlines recently announced a new flight between New York City’s Newark International Airport (EWR) and Montréal Trudeau Airport (YUL). The new route takes off on June 1, 2025, and will operate daily, before expanding to twice daily during peak season. The flight will be operated on a Dash 8-400 aircraft.

The flights will operate seasonally for the summer travel season through September 7, 2025. Montréal’s airport authority added that the Newark flight is also helpful for passengers seeking connecting flights to Europe.

“We are excited to partner with Porter Airlines to offer new nonstop service between Montréal and Newark Liberty International Airport,” Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Aviation Director Charles R. Everett Jr. stated in a press release. “This expansion reflects our region’s growing demand for more seamless travel options to top North American destinations and highlights our continued commitment to offering more flexibility for the New York-New Jersey area’s travelers, especially as international travel demand increases.”

The airline offers a premium experience which includes no middle seats in the cabin, plus complimentary beer and wine in glassware. The food and beverage options are locally sourced and include Mr. Porter’s Coffee Blend from Saint-Henri in Montréal, and wine from Jackson-Triggs Wines, from Niagara Peninsula, Ontario. The airline also serves Moosehead Canadian Lager beer.

Montréal is known for its French culture and food, historic architecture, and variety of activities. The city is also near several large outdoor parks and hiking trails, including the Parc-nature du Cap-Saint-Jacques. Travel + Leisure readers previously ranked Montréal as one of their favorite cities in Canada.

The Canadian city is home to numerous luxury hotels, including The Ritz-Carlton Montreal and Hôtel Nelligan, which were both ranked in T+L’s World’s Best Awards.  Another reader favorite is the Four Seasons Hotel Montreal, which honors Four Seasons’ Canadian roots, as the hotel was founded in Toronto, and is located in the Old Montreal district.
