These Are the Most (and Least) Popular Easter and Passover Foods, According to Instacart

Easter and Passover are just around the corner, and people have opinions about what they’re being served, and what sweets they’re enjoying. And Instacart’s annual survey (in conjunction with The Harris Poll) shared exactly what’s eliciting yums and yucks this holiday season—and what you’ll be seeing as you gather around the table.

Instacart’s Most Popular Easter Candies

  1. Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs
  2. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
  3. Cadbury Chocolate Mini Eggs
  4. Hershey’s Milk Chocolate
  5. Cadbury Creme Egg
  6. Sour Patch Kids
  7. Lindt Milk Chocolate Bunny
  8. Starburst Jelly Beans
  9. Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Candy Eggs
  10. Kinder Chocolate Candy Egg With Toy Inside

If you think Easter candy, you’re probably thinking chocolate bunnies, jelly beans, and Peeps. But what if we told you that Reese’s are the name of the game? Reese’s Peanut Butter Eggs reigned supreme as the top pick for Easter candy in Instacart carts in 2024, followed by their Peanut Butter Cups. In fact, most of the rest of the top 10 basket-worthy sweets were chocolate, with Cadbury representing in the third and fifth spots with their mini eggs and creme eggs, respectively, and Lindt offering the only chocolate bunny in the top 10, at number 7.

For those who aren’t fans of chocolate, the top picks are Sour Patch Kids (6) and the traditional jelly beans (at 8). Shockingly, those soft-and-sweet Easter Peeps failed to make the top 10, though they still reigned supreme in certain cities, like Philly and Washington, D.C.

If you’re stocking Easter baskets this year, put jelly beans on your list right now! Based on Instacart’s stats, there’s a huge spike in purchases of the sweet treats the day before Easter—which means many of us overlook them when we’re buying our Easter basket goodies. (And more than a third of us say that’s our favorite Easter candy!)

Least Favorite Holiday Feast Foods

If you’re planning for an Easter or Passover feast, you’re probably at least thinking about some of those traditional holiday foods. But maybe it’s time to shake up your holiday menu—as some guests may not be as excited about what you’re serving up.

For Passover celebrants, gefilte fish elicited the most yucks, with 44% of those celebrating saying they’d pass on the traditional dish, with matzo ball soup coming in next with 22% saying no thanks. The dishes you might want to cull from your Easter celebration include leg of lamb (35% said it was their least favorite holiday food), followed by deviled eggs (34% said no), and honey-baked ham and scalloped potatoes (least loved by 27% of Easter celebrants). So maybe go ahead and save your eggs for something else!

Most Beloved Spring Holiday Flowers

It’s probably no surprise that lilies and tulips topped the list of spring holiday florals—but maybe you wouldn’t expect that tulips were far more popular than lilies for Easter weekend. The number of Instacart lily orders were 13x normal for Easter weekend, while tulips topped nearly 20x the average orders for the year.
