The Trump Organization Moves into Cellphones With ‘Trump Mobile’

The president’s family operates golf courses, hotels, a bitcoin mining venture—and, now, a cell service.

The Trump Organization—led by the president’s sons, Eric Trump and Donald Trump Jr.—on Monday unveiled Trump Mobile and a branded smartphone to coincide with the 10th anniversary of their father launching his first presidential campaign, according to a press release.

Trump Mobile offers “The 47 Plan,” which includes unlimited talk, text and data within the U.S. for $47.45 a month, the press release said. Customers can access 5G service, roadside assistance and telehealth aid through third-party companies that have partnered with Trump Mobile, according to the release. (International calls may be placed for free to 100 nations, Trump Mobile said.)

Trump Mobile plans to release a “T1 Phone” in August. The golden device uses the Android operating system and costs about $500, according to the Trump Mobile website. Trump Mobile, which said in a statement that the phones would be “designed and built in the United States,” didn’t immediately respond to Investopedia’s request for more information about the manufacture of its phones, such as the locations and companies that might be involved

The younger Trumps, in the press release, said the venture would staff the product’s customer service line by hiring domestically.

“Our company is based right here in the United States because we know it’s what our customers want and deserve,” Donald Trump Jr. said in a press release.
