‘The Challenge’ Renewed for Season 41, Set to Air on MTV in Summer (EXCLUSIVE)

The Challenge” is continuing following its milestone 40th season. During Variety‘s FYC TV Fest, executive producer Julie Pizzi announced the news that the MTV series has been renewed for Season 41.

“The Challenge” will return with fan favorite veterans Aneesa Ferreira, Leroy Garrett, and CT Tamburello. The full cast and theme will be announced at a later date.

The season follows “The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras,” which delivered the biggest share in the last four year years, up 16% from the previous season. Season 40 was the first to feature all veterans of the game, with the cast split into four different teams. Each team represented a different era, from the show’s beginning to now: Era 1 featured players who debuted in Seasons 1-10, Era 2 covered Seasons 11-20, Era 3 covered Seasons 21-30 and Era 4 covered Seasons 31-39.

“We’re talking about what the future looks like, and we have some really good ideas,” Pizzi told Variety ahead of Season 40 about the future of the franchise. “We have to keep trying to outdo ourselves, and really keep trying to re-engage the audience. We have something really exciting up our sleeves that we’ve been working on with MTV. I feel like there’s something to look forward to.”

“The Challenge” was created for MTV by Bunim/Murray Productions, part of Banijay Americas. Pizzi, Justin Booth, Jacob Lane, Dan Caster and Leanne Mucci serve as executive producers; Diego Amson and Brad Tiemann are co-executive producers. Joe Awgul is supervising producer and Margaret Morales is a producer. Angela Liao is the executive in charge of production for MTV.
