Overtourism was a major topic of discussion this year, with many cities finding themselves completely overwhelmed by badly behaved tourists who refused to respect local customs. In 2024, numerous incidents occurred where visitors enraged locals, damaged property, and encountered legal issues. More and more, engaging in such behavior can lead to fines, jail time, and deportation as cities work to crack down on inappropriate conduct.
With so many bad tourists to choose from in 2024, it was difficult to narrow things down to the 10 very worst. But, here’s this year’s list of ignominious behavior, rotten activity, and disgraceful incidents that have marred some of the world’s most cherished destinations.
