Sharon Stone has claimed that she was hired to star in Paul Feig‘s upcoming movie Another Simple Favor but was ultimately dropped from the cast without warning.
“I LOVED being cast and removed from my role unexpectedly for no reason at all,” the actress wrote in the comments section of an E! News post about the film on Instagram. “LOVED it.”
However, sources close to the production tell Entertainment Weekly that Stone was never officially cast in the dramedy-thriller, which is a sequel to 2018’s A Simple Favor. They added that no formalized deal was ever made and that Stone never shot any scenes or appeared on set.
Representatives for Stone and MGM Studios did not immediately respond to EW’s request for comment.

EW can confirm that Stone does not make an appearance in the movie, which stars Anna Kendrick and Blake Lively, after attending its premiere at the 2025 SXSW Film and TV Festival earlier this month.
The thriller — which also stars Allison Janney, Andrew Rannells, and Alex Newell — follows Stephanie (Kendrick) as she is whisked away to Capri in Italy to attend the wedding of her frenemy Emily (Lively). Amid the festivities, a shocking murder takes place, leaving many unanswered questions in its wake.

Lorenzo Sisti
Feig teased the film’s premise in an interview with EW last month.
“[I loved] the idea of doing something that has a lot of twists and turns in the most beautiful setting where everything’s colorful and beautiful and bright and sunny,” he said at the time. “It’s a place where you go, ‘Well, nothing bad could ever happen here’ — and lots of bad things happen.”
Another Simple Favor premieres May 1 on Prime Video.
