Broadway’s biggest night has arrived.

The 78th Annual Tony Awards took place Sunday, live from Radio City Music Hall, with a lively celebration of the best and brightest from the latest Broadway season. 

With 14 new musicals, 14 new plays, seven musical revivals, and seven play revivals, the jam-packed season meant stiff competition for all of this year’s contenders. When it came to the nominations, Buena Vista Social Club, Death Becomes Her, and Maybe Happy Ending led the pack with a whopping 10 nominations each. As for the plays, The Hills of California and John Proctor Is the Villain dominated with seven nominations each. But as always, it’s anyone’s game.

In between handing out statuettes and putting a spotlight on host and Wicked star Cynthia Erivo, this year’s Tony Awards will be brimming with dazzling performances from all five nominees for Best New Musical and all four nominees for Best Revival of a Musical. The cast of Hamilton is also set to reunite to celebrate the groundbreaking show’s 10th anniversary.

In the night’s earliest awards, Succession star Sarah Snook won for Leading Actress in a Play for her Broadway debut role in The Picture of Dorian Gray. Frances Jue was awarded in the night’s second category, Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play, for his role in Yellow Face, while Jak Malone took the award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Musical for Operation Mincemeat: A New Musical.

Later, Cole Escola won Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Play for Oh, Mary!, while Darren Criss won Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical for Maybe Happy Ending. In one of the night’s final awards, Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical, Nicole Scherzinger triumphed for Sunset Blvd.

Purpose picked up the Best Play award, Sunset Blvd. won for Best Revival of a Musical, and Eureka Day won for Best Revival of a Play. The final award of the night, Best Musical, went to Maybe Happy Ending.
