After speaking out against nepo baby assumptions about his acting career, “The White Lotus” breakout star Patrick Schwarzenegger is ready to own his last name and work with his iconic father, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Patrick told The Hollywood Reporter that after his turns in series such as “The Staircase,” “American Sports Story,” and “Gen V,” he feels ready to collaborate with Arnold on the big screen.
“I definitely want to do [an action movie],” Patrick said of his career aspirations. “I mean, that’s the goal down the road is to do those types of things. I’d love to do that, if it was the right thing. I’ve talked to my dad about it, and I’ve told him I’d love to do that if it was the right thing. I’ve never wanted to, but now I feel like I have some credits under my belt, and that I’ve had some work, and I feel like I’ve gotten to the point where I would feel comfortable working with him.”
He added that his dad Arnold’s success has “always felt weird,” especially when dealing with fans in public. “I guess that’s one thing I could relate to about Saxon, I could relate to living under that shadow,” Patrick said. “But my dad was a big fan of the show, and he was proud of me.”
Now, Arnold is the one who is dealing with Patrick’s viral fame instead. “It’s probably weird for him now too,” Patrick said. “We went to the gym together yesterday and people went up to him and started talking about my show.”
However, Patrick is content waiting for the perfect project after “The White Lotus” and won’t rush into just any role.
“It’s been busy, but I’m going to be patient,” he said, hinting at a possible upcoming project. “I really want to find something that’s right. You know, there is one thing that I’m working on with this amazing director, a director that I’ve looked up to for my whole career. I’ve loved his projects, and we’re making something, and I hope it happens later this year that would be extremely difficult and would put me through the most challenging probably life experience and acting experience.”
