Nintendo reschedules Switch 2 American pre-orders for April 24

Nintendo announced today that it has set a new date for Switch 2 pre-orders in the U.S.A. — the new console’s pre-orders will open on April 24. It also added that the price for the console and its pre-announced flagship games will remain the same, the prices of some of the Switch 2 accessories will change due to “changes in market conditions.”

The Switch 2 is still $450, or $500 if you purchase the bundle with Mario Kart World. That game will also cost $80, and Donkey Kong Bananza will remain $70. Nintendo also revealed a price list for several of the Switch 2 accessories, some of which have gone up in price. The Joy-Con 2 Pair has gone from $90 to $95, the Dock Set has gone from $110 to $120 and the Switch 2 Camera has gone from $50 to $55.

The Switch 2’s original pre-order date was April 9, but Nintendo delayed the launch following the announcement of American tariffs on foreign products. U.S. President Donald Trump revealed the wide-ranging tariffs on the same day Nintendo held the Direct revealing most of the information about the console. Nintendo delayed its pre-orders shortly afterwards “in order to assess the potential impact of tariffs and evolving market conditions.”

The statement on Nintendo’s site reads, “We apologize for the retail pre-order delay, and hope this reduces some of the uncertainty our customers may be experiencing. We thank our customers for their patience, and we share their excitement to experience Nintendo Switch 2 starting June 5, 2025.”
