Mick Jagger is engaged to longtime partner Melanie Hamrick

Paint it white and something blue: Mick Jagger is engaged to his longtime partner Melanie Hamrick.

Hamrick, 37, a retired ballerina and choreographer, confirmed that she and The Rolling Stones musician, 81, have been engaged for about “two or three years” now during a recent interview with French publication Paris Match.

“Maybe one day we’ll marry, maybe not,” Hamrick said. “We are so happy in our current life that I would be too afraid to change anything.”

The couple met in 2014 in Japan, when Jagger was touring with the Stones and Hamrick with the American Ballet Theatre, respectively, and began dating that year. When asked if there was an immediate spark, Hamrick told the French outlet, “Maybe a spark, but nothing incredible, like, ‘Come on, I’ll blow your mind and we’ll travel the world.'”

“We didn’t even exchange phone numbers,” Hamrick added. “At the time, I wasn’t in a relationship, but he was.”

Jagger was previously married to former actress and activist Bianca Jagger. They split in 1978 after seven years of marriage. Prior to his relationship with Hamrick, Jagger dated the late model and stylist L’Wren Scott, who died in early 2014. The musician shares one child, an 8-year-old son named Deveraux, with Hamrick and is also dad to seven other children with previous partners.

The 44-year age gap between Jagger and Hamrick has inspired much public discussion, but the duo drown out the noise. “I don’t think about it,” Hamrick told The Times last year. “Everyone’s going to have their opinion. If you think about others’ opinions, no matter where you are in life, you’re going to have a problem and you’re going to analyze it. I put the blinders on. Am I happy? Yes. Are the people in my life happy? Yes. Am I hurting anyone? No. Okay, they can mind their own business.”
