Leo Woodall ‘blacked out,’ touched Hugh Grant’s butt at ‘Bridget Jones’ premiere

Leo Woodall is remembering his… unique first encounter with his Bridget Jones costar Hugh Grant

The 28-year-old actor revealed that he and Grant didn’t actually get the chance to meet while they were shooting Mad About the Boy, the fourth entry in the Bridget Jones saga. Instead, they ran into each other at the rom-com’s Paris premiere last month, where Woodall found himself getting a bit handsy while saying hello.

“I met him on the Paris red carpet and I think I kind of blacked out and I think I grabbed his butt?…” Woodall confessed to host Jimmy Fallon while visiting The Tonight Show on Wednesday. “I don’t know if I grabbed it or not, but then someone showed me a photo and it kind of looks like [I did].”

In response, Fallon held up an image that seemed to show Woodall touching Grant’s lower back area while the pair greeted the crowd attending the event. “Yeah, that’s a full-on ass grab,” Woodall admitted. “That’s a full grab.”

Fallon agreed. “You grabbed his butt,” he said. “Yeah, that’s awkward. You can’t — that’s your first time meeting him?”

When Woodall confirmed that it was, Fallon jokingly replied, “Well, there you go. It might be the last time.”

To say Woodall was a bit embarrassed about the entire situation would be an understatement. “This is working out really well for me!” The White Lotus season 2 star exclaimed, putting a hand to his face. Fallon, in turn, tried to cheer his guest up, responding, “You’ll meet him again!”

Woodall makes his official debut in the Bridget Jones universe as Roxster, a park ranger who falls for Bridget (Renée Zellweger) after they, too, have a fascinating meet-cute when she gets stuck up in a tree trying to rescue her two children. He is one of her two major love interests in the film — alongside stern science teacher Mr. Wallaker (Chiwetel Ejiofor) — after Bridget dives back into the dating pool following the tragic death of her husband, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth).

The movie also boasts the return of several fan-favorite Bridget Jones characters, including Emma Thompson‘s Dr. Rawlings, Jim Broadbent‘s Colin Jones, and Grant’s Daniel Cleaver, whom we thought was dead in the last installment.

Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is available now on Peacock and swoons into cinemas tomorrow. Watch Woodall recall meeting Grant in the clip above.
