Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’s “Die With a Smile” has now spent 40 weeks on the Hot 100, tying “Poker … More
“Die With a Smile” doesn’t sound like anything else in Lady Gaga’s discography — and that may be part of the reason it’s been so successful. The track, a collaboration with Bruno Mars, was released in mid-2024 and has remained hugely popular ever since.
The tune barely slips on the Hot 100 this week, despite an influx of new releases by country superstar Morgan Wallen. As the collaboration earns another stay on the competitive ranking, it rises to an important place in the singer and actress’s back catalog.
“Die With a Smile” Hits 40 Weeks on the Hot 100
As of this frame, “Die With a Smile” has spent 40 weeks on the Hot 100 – five of those at No. 1. This time around, it declines only three spaces to No. 6, managing to appear inside the top 10 once more, even amid quite a bit of competition.
“Die With a Smile” Ties “Poker Face”
As “Die With a Smile” reaches that landmark showing of longevity, it ties with one other tune in Gaga’s catalog as her third-longest-running Hot 100 success. The singer’s collaboration with Mars is now matched with “Poker Face,” which disappeared after exactly 40 frames, and just one of those was spent at No. 1.
“Just Dance” and “Shallow” Are Still Leading
“Just Dance,” a collaboration with then-rising talent Colby O’Donis, still ranks as Gaga’s longest-charting Hot 100 tune, with 49 weeks spent on the tally. It comes in just a few frames ahead of “Shallow,” which Gaga took to No. 1 alongside Bradley Cooper following her Academy Award win for Best Original Song. That track managed 45 stays on the Hot 100.
The Future of “Die With a Smile”
“Die With a Smile” may very well climb again on the Hot 100 next week, when Wallen’s new arrivals begin to descend. It also seems destined to live inside the upper region of the chart for weeks, if not months, to come. The cut appears set to match “Shallow,” and then perhaps even “Just Dance,” in the coming frames.
There’s a real likelihood that “Die With a Smile” will become Gaga’s first one-year charter on the Hot 100, beating her all-time best showing.
Radio is Keeping Lady Gaga’s Hit Alive
Radio airplay is largely to thank for the continued success of “Die With a Smile,” as the tune appears inside the top 10 on four different airplay tallies. The cut returns to No. 1 on the Adult Pop Airplay chart, and lives inside the loftiest region on the Pop Airplay, Adult Contemporary, and Radio Songs rankings.
