Justin Bieber surprises SZA audience with L.A. performance of ‘Snooze’

SZA fans became Beliebers on Friday night when Justin Bieber joined the five-time Grammy winner on stage in Los Angeles.

The sold-out crowd erupted when the pop star appeared alongside SZA at the SoFi Stadium for a surprise performance of their 2023 collaboration, “Snooze.” Both singers wore all black for the duet, which found SZA cupping Bieber’s chin and the “Love Yourself” singer responding by planting kisses on her hand, then executing a twirl.

The crowd’s cheers intensified as the pair capped their performance with a hug and slowly disappeared courtesy of a slow-moving lift that lowered them from the stage.

Bieber popped up as one of SZA’s love interests in the 2023 music video for “Snooze” — which also featured Young Mazino, Woody McClain, and Benny Blanco — and sang on an acoustic remix of the track, contributing background vocals and replacing SZA as the main vocalist for its second verse.

Bieber joined SZA for the second of her three shows at SoFi as part of her Grand National Tour. The singer is co-headlining the stadium-only tour with rapper — and recent Super Bowl halftime performer — Kendrick Lamar.

Friday’s appearance marks the first time Bieber has performed in a stadium show since Coachella 2024, where he surprised fans to sing with Tems and Wizkid on their 2020 hit “Essence.”

Bieber scrapped his planned Purpose world tour in 2017 but returned to the road in 2022 for the Justice World Tour in support of his last studio album, Justice, which he released the year before.

SZA’s Grand National Tour runs through August 9 and features stops in Las Vegas, Chicago, and Detroit before the singer heads overseas for shows in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, Paris, and London.
