Sunrise Films has picked up U.S. distribution rights to “Mr. Blake at Your Service,” the France-set comedy-drama starring John Malkovich, Fanny Ardant and the late Émilie Dequenne, with plans for a June 20 theatrical release.
The film, also known as “Well Done!,” marks one of Malkovich’s rare French-speaking performances, with the actor playing Andrew Blake, a recently widowed British businessman who takes a job as a butler at a countryside manor to stay connected to memories of his late French wife. As Blake navigates the estate’s quirky residents, he embarks on an unexpected journey of healing and rediscovery.
Ardant stars as Nathalie de Beauvillier, the manor’s reserved and eccentric lady, while Dequenne delivers one of her final screen performances as Odile, the spirited cook. The ensemble cast rounds out with Eugénie Anselin, Al Ginter, Anne Brionne and Christel Henon.
Bestselling author Gilles Legardinier made his directorial debut with the adaptation of his 2012 novel “Complètement cramé!” Legardinier penned the screenplay alongside Cristel Henon. The film is lensed by Stéphane Le Parc, with editing by Yves Deschamps and Chrystel Alépée, and an original score by Erwann Chandon.
Henon and Lilian Eche produced for Bidibul Productions alongside Superprod, with Legardinier serving as co-producer. Bidibul Productions most recently produced the 2025 Palme d’Or winner “It Was Just an Accident” by Iranian director Jafar Panahi.
The film had its U.S. premiere at the Newport Beach Film Festival in 2023, and has since rolled out theatrically across France, Spain, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Australia and New Zealand, with additional festival screenings worldwide.
