I Tried the Viral Chicken Parm ‘Pizza’—and Now It’s a High-Protein Favorite for My Whole Family

I fully admit it: TikTok got me. One minute I was scrolling through cleaning hacks I’ll never try, and the next I was watching someone shape ground chicken into a pizza crust, bake it, and top it with fresh tomato sauce and mozzarella. My first thought? There’s no way that holds together. My second? I think I might have to try it.

Much to my surprise—it worked. Not only did it work, this high-protein, low-carb pizza alternative has become a weekly staple in my house ever since. It’s all the crispy-cheesy comfort of chicken Parmesan, just reshaped into a giant pizza. The chicken base bakes up golden and sturdy, the edges get nicely crisp, and the whole thing feels indulgent without being heavy. My family loved it. My toddler didn’t question it. I felt like I’d won the weeknight dinner lottery.

The best part is how easy it is to customize. We’ve topped the ground, breaded chicken with classic mozzarella and pepperoni, enjoyed a veggie version with spinach and roasted red peppers, and even tried a Buffalo chicken version one night with hot sauce and a sprinkle of blue cheese. It’s become our go-to “clean out the fridge” meal, and due to its versatility it still feels like something everyone gets excited about.

Plus, since the dish substitutes the typical carb-heavy pizza crust for ground chicken, we’re getting much more protein per serving, and no one is sneaking into the fridge an hour after dinner because they’re still hungry.

I’ve also started doubling the recipe and baking two crusts at once—one for dinner, and one to stash in the fridge for a quick lunch or leftover night. The chicken “crust” reheats surprisingly well, and you can top it fresh or just pop a slice into the toaster oven. For a recipe I nearly skipped past, it’s become one of the most useful things in our meal rotation.

How to Make Chicken Parm “Pizza”:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, mix 1 pound of ground chicken with 1 egg, ½ cup shredded mozzarella (or Parmesan), ½ teaspoon garlic powder, ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper.
  3. Form the mixture into a thin, even round or oval shape on the baking sheet—it should be about ¼-inch thick.
  4. Bake for 30 to 45 minutes, or until the edges are golden and the base feels firm.
  5. Remove from the oven, and top with pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella, and your favorite toppings.
  6. Return the “pizza” to the oven for 5 to 7 more minutes, until the cheese is melty and bubbly. Slice and serve like pizza—because it totally is.
