Heinz’s New Sauces Are Inspired by Global Cuisines — and You Need to Try Them All

It’s nearly March, which means outdoor gatherings are finally within reach. While you’re planning the first joyous barbecues and picnic dates of the season, we heard there’s one more thing you might want to pack in your cooler.

Heinz just dropped a brand-new “Flavor Tour” collection with three food-inspired sauces, the brand tells Food & Wine. Inspired by beloved dishes from cuisines across the world, these three bold sauces — Street Corn, Sweet & Tangy BBQ, and Sweet Chili — kick off a new era for the brand. Even better? They’re rolling out at Walmart, Target, and Kroger locations nationwide as we speak.

As for the taste, the creamy Mexican-Inspired Street Corn sauce blends chipotle, lime, and corn with a distinct smokiness, per the brand. Korean-inspired Sweet & Tangy BBQ, on the other hand, reportedly brings a “bold punch” to the palate with gochujang, doenjang, and soy sauce. And finally, the Thai-Inspired Sweet Chili offers a mild heat (and a touch of bright tanginess) with ginger, sriracha, and sesame oil.

The possibilities are endless with these new sauces: Heinz recommends adding the Street Corn sauce to a grilled cheese sandwich — or even drenching chicken wings in the spicy Korean BBQ sauce.

“Each element of the Flavor Tour sauces was crafted with a wide range of host foods in mind,” Angie Madigan, vice president of taste elevation marketing at The Kraft Heinz Company, tells Food & Wine. “With Heinz Flavor Tour, fans can drizzle on tacos, burgers, and sandwiches, dress salads and bowls, or dip finger foods for an easy way to try a variety of new flavors.”

Similar to its other innovative sauces, Heinz is pointing toward Gen Z’s affinity for flavors inspired by international cuisine as key inspiration for the lineup. That’s not without a little research, though: Heinz says it landed on the three flavors after introducing 14 potential sauces to consumer testers across the country. (The three saucy finalists were selected as the most “sought-after” and “exciting” additions to the brand’s overall lineup.)

“Americans are hungry for condiments that offer globally inspired flavor and versatility at an accessible price point,” Madigan also shared in a company press release. “We saw an opportunity for Heinz, a beloved and trusted brand, to inspire fun new ways for people to enjoy their favorite foods,”

Consistent with Heinz’s other offerings, the new sauces are made without artificial flavors and incorporate actual ingredients from each beloved dish. That includes staples like gochujang, a red chili paste with a complex sweet-and-spicy flavor profile.

Meanwhile, Heinz isn’t the only household name to reimagine its approach to flavor. Cheetos added an on-trend pickle spin to its crunchy-cheesy snack earlier this month, while Eggo and Rice Krispies are apparently getting into the ice cream game. Perhaps the most unexpected of all, Cinnamon Toast Crunch partnered with Totino’s Pizza Rolls for a limited sweet-and-savory cereal right before the Super Bowl. Yum.

There’s never been a better time to reimagine your wildest cravings — and maybe even discover some new favorites.
