Hailee Steinfeld marries NFL quarterback Josh Allen in California wedding

Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen are beginning the next chapter of their lives.

The Sinners star and Buffalo Bills quarterback have officially tied the knot, sharing photographs of their intimate California wedding this weekend.

PEOPLE has obtained photos of Steinfeld, 28, walking down the aisle in a white, strapless wedding gown at the couple’s May 31 ceremony. Allen, 29, who donned a classic black tuxedo for the occasion, is pictured kissing his bride at the altar.

Representatives for Steinfeld and Allen did not immediately respond to Entertainment Weekly‘s request for comment.

The marriage comes six months after the couple’s November 22 engagement, for which Allen got down on one knee beneath an arch of pink flowers. Steinfeld later told Who What Wear that she had no idea the proposal was coming — even though Allen subtly suggested that she dress up before going out that day.

“I’m so grateful that he did it the way he did so that I looked good, and we have these photos that we’ll have and cherish for the rest of our lives that I’m not looking at being like, ‘What was I wearing?'” she said.

She also joked that while she fully blacked out in the moment, the proposal marked one of the greatest days of her life. “We were in Malibu, which is my happy place,” she said. “And it was magical.”

Allen reflected on the proposal in the December 6 edition of Steinfeld’s newsletter to her fans, Beau Society, where she had a mini Q&A with her then-fiancé.

“I think I was most nervous about you finding out about the proposal,” Allen told her. “It was hard to keep secrets from you and have other people in your life keep secrets from you. Multiple times throughout the day, a song would come on and I would tear up thinking about how special our day was going to be.”

In the end, it all went according to plan. “I didn’t blow it nor did anyone else,” he said. “You were extremely surprised, you said yes, and that was all that mattered to me. And the sun was out.”

He added, “It feels unbelievable to be engaged to someone who is so special and loving and caring and gorgeous and fun and happy.”

Allen and Steinfeld have been romantically linked since May 2023, PEOPLE reported. They went public with their relationship on Instagram in July 2024 and announced their engagement four months later.

Steinfeld first rose to fame at just 13 years old, starring opposite Jeff Bridges and Matt Damon in the Coen Brothers‘ 2010 remake of True Grit. She has since starred in projects including the coming-of-age dramedy Edge of Seventeen; the irreverent Apple TV+ series Dickinson, in which she played Emily Dickinson; the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse animated films, in which she voices Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman; the League of Legends Netflix series Arcane; and, most recently, Ryan Coogler‘s blockbuster vampire film, Sinners.

Allen has been a quarterback with the Buffalo Bills since 2018 and has led the team to six playoff appearances and five consecutive division titles. Now entering his eighth NFL season, he signed a contract extension worth $330 million in March.

In February, Allen and Steinfeld stepped out onto the red carpet together for the 14th Annual NFL Honors in New Orleans. Allen was named the league’s 2025 Most Valuable Player during the ceremony and, before collecting his trophy, shared a sweet kiss with Steinfeld.

He ended his acceptance speech with a shout-out to his fiancée, telling her, “You’ve been my rock. You’re my best friend. I would not be standing on the stage if it weren’t for you.”
