Getting to Colombia From the U.S. Just Got Easier—and It’s Less Than $250 One-way

Avianca Airlines is adding a new route that will connect travelers from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport to Colombia’s capital city, Bogotá. The new route will take flight on May 26, 2025, and operate four times per week on an Airbus A320

The flight will depart Dallas at 2:50 p.m., and arrive in Bogotá at 8:15 p.m. The return flight departs at 7:30 a.m., and arrives back in Dallas at 1:20 p.m. The flight will operate on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday. T+L spotted one-way fares as low as $238 on the new route for a late spring break or summer vacation travel.

“We are excited to give travelers a new way to reach Bogotá from Dallas, adding to our 21 routes between the U.S. and Latin America during peak seasons,” Avianca’s Sales Director Rolando Damas said in a news release. “Bogotá is undoubtedly a vibrant destination, rich in history, culture, and fascinating places to explore.”

The new route is welcome news for passengers who fly United Airlines, as Avianca is also a member of the Star Alliance network of carriers. This means that passengers who have frequent flyer benefits on United can earn miles and enjoy other benefits on Avianca. DFW Airport is a major hub for American Airlines.

Avianca currently operates service from Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Miami, New York, Orlando,  and other United States cities to Colombia.

Bogotá was recently ranked as one of the best cities in South America by Travel + Leisure readers in the World’s Best Awards from 2024. The city is known for its dramatic architecture, arts and culture district, and the Museo del Oro, which translates to the Gold Museum. The W Bogotá, part of Marriott Bonvoy, was previously recognized as one of the best hotels in South America, for its golden architecture inspired by the legend of El Dorado.
