It’s not just about Arnold Schwarzenegger kicking ass, because we already know that the action icon can do it. It’s about Schwarzenegger being a girl dad onscreen, and thanks to “FUBAR” Season 2, his father figure skills as America’s favorite dad are on full display.
Schwarzenegger reprises his role as CIA agent Luke Brunner for the hit Netflix series, which he also executive produces. Newly-minted Oscar nominee Monica Barbaro is also back as Schwarzenegger’s onscreen daughter and fellow spy. The logline reads: “Luke Brunner is a veteran CIA operative who, up until recently, was on the verge of retirement. After his last mission in saving another operative — who just so happened to be his daughter — he’s back and face to face with new villains. This one is an old flame from Luke’s past who threatens to destroy the world…if she doesn’t destroy his life first.”
Carrie-Anne Moss, Milan Carter, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Fabiana Udenio, Aparna Brielle, Guy Burnet, Andy Buckley, Jay Baruchel, Barbara Eve Harris, and Scott Thompson co-star. Nick Santora is the creator and showrunner; he also executive produces along with Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, Phil Abraham, Amy Pocha, Seth Cohen with Skydance’s David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Matt Thunell.
Schwarzenegger also might have another father-centric action genre role in the works with his real life son (and viral “The White Lotus” star) Patrick Schwarzenegger. Patrick told The Hollywood Reporter that after his turns in series such as “The Staircase,” “American Sports Story,” and “Gen V,” he is ready to collaborate with his dad Arnold on the big screen.
“I definitely want to do [an action movie],” Patrick said. “I mean, that’s the goal down the road is to do those types of things. I’d love to do that, if it was the right thing. I’ve talked to my dad about it, and I’ve told him I’d love to do that if it was the right thing. I’ve never wanted to, but now I feel like I have some credits under my belt, and that I’ve had some work, and I feel like I’ve gotten to the point where I would feel comfortable working with him.”
“FUBAR” Season 2 premieres June 12 on Netflix. Check out the trailer below.
