If you recently purchased a can of baked beans, then it’s time to check your pantry, as the U.S. Food & Drug Administration (FDA) has just issued another recall.
In early May, the FDA published a recall notice for Vietti Food Group’s Yellowstone Brown Sugar Molasses Baked Beans in the 15-ounce cans over the presence of undeclared soy. “Individuals with an allergy or severe sensitivity to soy risk serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product,” the recall notice explained.
In total, it’s recalling 4,515 cases, which were distributed to retailers in 23 states, including Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, and Virginia. According to the Yellowstone website, it is distributed in retailers like Walmart, Kroger, Safeway, and other popular retailers.

According to the FDA, the recalled product is easily identifiable by its “Best if Used By February 17, 2028” label, which is printed on the bottom of each can.
The good news is that no “illnesses or adverse reactions have been reported,” according to the FDA notice. However, consumers who have purchased the affected product are still “urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.” Those with additional questions can also reach out to Vietti Food Group at (513) 682-2474 Monday-Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm CT or email [email protected] with any concerns or questions.
However, this isn’t the only recall consumers need to be aware of this week. On May 3, the FDA published a recall notice for Ray & Mascari tomatoes, specifically its 4-Count Vine Ripe Tomatoes packaged in clamshell containers, as they may be contaminated with Salmonella.
And just a day prior, on May 2, the FDA released a separate recall notice for tomatoes by Williams Farms Repack, also due to a potential Salmonella contamination. Like the baked beans, no illnesses have been reported with these two recalls either, but it’s always better to be safe than sorry and discard any recalled items.
