FC Barcelona First Team Star Has Decided To Leave This Summer

An FC Barcelona first team star has decided to leave the club this summer according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources.

Pau Victor was only one of two signings made by head coach Hansi Flick upon his arrival in the Montjuic hotseat last summer.

The Catalan had previously impressed on loan from Girona in the reserve team known as Barca Atletic, and President Joan Laporta agreed to pay a few million euros to make his move permanent.

Pau Victor’s scoring exploits in 2023/2024 meant that he received a well-earned promotion to the German’s senior squad, but he and the transfer window’s other marquee capture Dani Olmo had to wait to make their debuts because of a well-publicised registration debacle stemming from Barca’s Financial Fair Play (FFP) issues.

The Blaugrana won a battle in the courts to get both men the green light, but it is of course Olmo that has featured far more in Barca’s potentially domestic treble winning outfit.

As a central attacking midfielder, the Euro 2024 gets starting preference over both Gavi and Fermin Lopez, and has far more appearances under his belt than Pau Victor despite being sidelined through injury at various different points of the ongoing campaign.

Even with Robert Lewandowski injured recently and Ferran Torres evidently needing a rest, the latter has remained Flick’s number one choice as striker with Pau Victor only afforded a start at Real Valladolid for a scrappy win on May 3.

FC Barcelona star has offers from Spain and abroad

With this in mind, SPORT reports that Pau Victor has decided to move on this summer and take up one of the “many offers” he has from elsewhere in Spain and from abroad.

Barca won’t stand in the 23-year-old’s way of leaving and will make his departure easy – as long as it has the situation under control and can either let him go on loan or sell him with a buyback clause.

We’ve recently seen FC Barcelona act wiser and decide to include this stipulation in some of its recent sales of young players, and its something done often at bitter rival Real Madrid where a successful return to the Bernabeu after being sold but brought back is known as the ‘Carvajal route’.
