Fans Have Been Begging For This Trader Joe’s Snack to Come Back — and It’s Finally Here

What do you do when you crave a bag of generously salted and perfectly crispy potato chips but can’t decide among the many flavor options — barbecue, salt & vinegar, dill — that you love? The answer is clear for many potato chip enthusiasts: you buy a mixed bag that brings them all together.

Trader Joe’s beloved Patio Potato Chips combines Sea Salt and Vinegar, Delicious Dill, Homestyle Ketchup, and Smokin’ Sweet BBQ flavored potato chips — all in one bag. 

This product became a fan favorite a while back, but, like most limited items, it was discontinued for a period of time. Seven months ago, one redditor raised the question, “What happened to the Patio Potato chips?” and another user replied, “I miss these every day.” 

Fortunately for them and many others, the popular gluten-free product is now back on shelves, and fans couldn’t be happier about it, with some calling it “the best summer snack.”

Having all four types of chips in one bag of these “picnic-ready ridged potato chips” makes every bite a mystery — as you reach into the bag, uncertain of which flavor you’ll get. However, these massively popular chips can be a bit challenging to find in stores, as they were already sold out at my local Trader Joe’s one morning. 

“The Patio Chips are a limited-time product. Customers can ask crew members in their neighborhood Trader Joe’s store if they have questions about availability, as it will differ from store to store,” a Trader Joe’s representative told Food & Wine. 

If you’re intrigued by an exciting blend of flavors — the sourness of vinegar, the herby aroma of dill, the sweetness of ketchup, and the smokiness of barbecue — you should definitely look for these at your nearest Trader Joe’s. 

In a video posted on May 20, a crew member at Trader Joe’s reviews the Patio Potato Chips and confirms to her followers that they’re back in stores. 

True to its name, Trader Joe’s suggests on its website that these chips are best enjoyed outdoors on a backyard patio. Pair them with some grilled ribs and tasty dips such as the new Ranch Cottage Cheese Dip or the Spinach & Kale Greek Yogurt Dip.

You can also get creative and use these chips to make other bite-sized snacks. For example, a fan shared a video in 2023, when this product was going viral again, of making potato chip-coated brie bites using Patio Chips.
