Elden Ring Nightreign was a surprise announcement back in December. The spinoff of the popular FromSoftware game comes out in May, but the network test starts on Friday. That is, if you were lucky to get selected.
The Elden Ring Nightreign network test is underway, and players who received invites can join one of six sessions happening this weekend. Each session is 3 hours long, which will give players plenty of time as each game of Nightreign takes up to 30 minutes. The test will provide valuable info for FromSoftware so the game can be ready when it launches on May 30.
The first session started early Friday morning, and players had trouble trying to log into the game, according to the official Elden Ring X account. Since there were issues, there are talks about another session.
The first session of the #ELDENRING #NIGHTREIGN Network Test has ended.

What is a network test?
A network test is like a demo for a game but intended for people to play online with each other. It acts as a stress test for the game’s servers and gives the developer some last-minute feedback before the game goes live. There was also a network test for Elden Ring before it launched back in 2022.

What is Elden Ring Nightreign?
Nightreign is a spinoff of Elden Ring that focuses on co-op survival action. Three players team up to explore a portion of Limgrave from the game, but places and enemies are randomly generated, according to GameSpot. Each player selects one of eight Elden Ring characters who have a specialty whether it be offensive magic, stealth or ranged attacks, for example. The team will have 30 minutes to survive three in-game nights. They’ll need to spring across maps to find treasure and defeat bosses to earn equipment and power-ups. At the end of each night, they’ll fight a large boss that will require players to work strategically.
While this is a multiplayer-focused standalone game, developer FromSoftware says Nightreign is not a live service game where you’ll need to play online only and be forced into microtransactions. Players will be able to play offline and by themselves, if they wish.
When does Elden Ring Nightreign come out?
The release date for Elden Ring Nightrein is May 30. It will cost $40 for the standard edition on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series console. There is a deluxe edition for $55 that comes with the physical game, additional downloadable content that will be announced after the game’s launch, digital artbook and mini soundtrack.
