Hosting Friendsgiving this year? The latest TikTok viral party trend might be the best way to change things up. It’s called “Dipsgiving.” Instead of a traditional Thanksgiving feast, everyone brings their favorite dip and a dipping vehicle (i.e., crackers, tortilla chips, veggies, etc.) to the party.
Creator Kallie Marie (@lifeofkallie on TikTok) shows exactly how to host a “Dispgiving soiree” in a video with over two million views so far.
“Dispsgiving is my take on Friendsgiving, but it’s centered around my favorite category of appetizer which is dip. Each guest brings a dip of their choice—sweet or savory—and everyone votes on the best dip based on taste, presentation, and creativity,” Kallie says in the video. “The winner of the overall best dip wins a prize.”
If you love dips and want a more laid-back Friendsgiving, this may be the best way to celebrate the holiday. A typical potluck-style Friendsgiving is often hard to navigate, from assigning dishes to cooking them.
This idea allows you to gather with friends without a lot of stress. Dips are generally easy to make, plus, if guests are running low on time, they can always just pick up their favorite pre-made dip from the store and a bag of crackers. As a host, you’ll only need to provide enough space for your guest’s dips, a prize if you decide to make it a competition, drinks, and a dip or two of your own.
5 Dipsgiving Recipes to Try

If your favorite dip is guacamole, you’re going to love this delicious green apple salsa. Tart chopped green apples are mixed with avocado, onion, cilantro, lime juice, garlic, Fresno chiles, and a couple of seasonings for a satisfying, savory dip. Tortilla chips are the perfect vehicle for enjoying this salsa.
Healthy Grilled Eggplant and Red Pepper Dip
Greg Dupree, Prop Stylist: Julia Bayless , Food Stylist: Emily Nabors Hall
This smoky, zingy dip might just win you the “best taste” award at Dipsgiving. To make it, you’ll grill eggplant and red bell peppers, before processing them with pine nuts, vinegar, olive oil, tomato paste, and some seasonings. Make it up to three days ahead and store in the fridge until you’re ready to serve!
Roasted Garlic Hummus with Jammy Tomatoes
Greg Dupree, Prop Stylist: Julia Bayless , Food Stylist: Emily Nabors Hall
Beat out any hummus competition with this recipe, which features roasted garlic and cherry tomatoes. Though it takes a bit longer to make (because of the baking time), the creamy, flavorful result is worth it. Serve it with pita bread, vegetables, or crackers, and watch how quickly it disappears at the party.
Charred Poblano, Avocado, and Pepita Dip
Greg Dupree, Prop Stylist: Julia Bayless , Food Stylist: Emily Nabors Hall
Charred poblano peppers are the star of the show in this tasty vegan dip. They are blended with avocado, charred scallions, pepitas, cilantro, and lime, plus a little bit of olive oil which gives it a smooth, velvety texture. It can be served with just about any dippers, but we’re partial to tortilla chips for the salty crunch.
Herby Yogurt Dip
Victor Protasio
Lemon-spiked Greek yogurt is instantly elevated with the addition of a savory oil mixture, featuring dried herbs, red pepper, grated garlic, and fresh scallions. Serve this quick, 15-minute dip with fresh veggies, crusty bread, or pita bread.
