Spry Fox, the Netflix-owned game studio behind “Cozy Grove,” “Triple Town” and “Alphabear,” is launching a new co-op life-simulation game called “Spirit Crossing” later this year.
“Prepare to adventure into a joyful world with ‘Spirit Crossing,’ a massively cooperative life sim designed to encourage friendship and make the world feel a little less lonely,” according to the game’s description. “From award-winning cozy games studio Spry Fox, journey through an ever-changing landscape as you spread kindness throughout a vibrant, inviting community.”
Per Netflix and Spry Fox, the game will allow players in groups to “work to nurture your village and show that you are truly stronger together.”
The game, which was announced out of Netflix’s press presentation during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) Wednesday in San Francisco, is promoted as the most ambitious project from Spry Fox so far.
The aesthetic style of “Spirit Crossing” is influenced by Hayao Miyazaki’s Studio Ghibli and Jean Giraud’s Moebius.
Among the features in the MMO are the ability to build and decorate your home and village; make new friends and gather resources together; follow friends on fluffaloback; join a dance party and jam session; explore and traverse the wilderness by gliding, climbing, building and trampolining.
“Spirit Crossing” will be available exclusively via Netflix, which has been growing its lineup of more than 100 original and acquired mobile games since moving into the video game sector in 2022 (the year it acquired Spry Fox). The game is free to play and does not include any ads or in-game purchases.
No official release date has been set for “Spirit Crossing,” butt Netflix has confirmed the title is part of its planned slate for the rest of 2025.
Netflix opened sign up for a closed alpha testing of “Spirit Crossing” Wednesday at playspiritcrossing.com.
