Louisa Connolly-Burnham, who cast “How to Have Sex” breakout and BAFTA winner Mia McKenna-Bruce in last year’s hugely well-received short film “Sister Wives,” has lined up her next project.
“The Intimacy Coordinator,” set to start shooting this summer, is centered around an intimacy coordinator who also happens to be a sex addict.
The short film will be led by Connolly-Burnham (“Sister Wives,” “Wolfblood”) alongside Kieron Moore, who recently turned heads in ITV series “Code of Silence,” but has also appeared in “Masters of the Air” and “Sex Education.” Alexander Arnold (“Skins,” “Yesterday”) and Sophie Simnett (“Daybreak,” “Twist”) have been cast in supporting roles.
Connolly-Burnham produces for her own Thimble Films alongside Benjamin Jacob Smith (BIFA-nominated “A Fox In The Night,” “Twain”) for Raw Inventive and Roxane Bourges (“The Sun, the Moon & Their Star”) for Curtain Bangs Productions.
“The Intimacy Coordinator” will follow Kate (Connolly-Burnham), a highly respected intimacy coordinator with a dangerous secret: she’s a sex addict. Despite attending weekly support groups, she’s sleeping with a fellow member, spending her nights consumed by porn, dating apps, and one-night stands. Her personal urges begin to bleed into her professional life, as she finds it harder to stick to boundaries, especially when an actor, Max, starts to grow suspicious. As Kate spirals, the question looms: how long can she continue to abuse her position of power?
“I’m beyond excited to bring this story to life with such a phenomenal cast and crew,” said Connolly-Burnham. “‘The Intimacy Coordinator’ is bold, darkly funny, and deeply human. I’m so grateful to be collaborating with artists who are not only wildly talented, but brave enough to explore the complex and uncomfortable themes at the heart of this film.”
Added Moore: “Louisa’s script is dangerous, provocative, and — like all her storytelling — an important piece of art. Her talent knows no bounds. It’s a privilege to be part of this project.”
2024’s “Sister Wives,” which Connolly-Burnham wrote, directed, produced and starred in, was long-listed for the 2025 Oscars, BAFTAs, and 2024 BIFAs, and was later acquired by Film4 and Channel 4. It went on to win over 50 awards across more than 100 international festivals, including best director at The British Short Film Awards, HollyShorts, The Shark Awards and more. It also claimed best British short, best actress, and the audience award at The Iris Prize, sponsored by Pinewood Studios.
