‘Bridgerton’ Renewed for Seasons 5 and 6, but Fans Have to Wait Until 2026 for Season 4

There’s about to be a lot more “Bridgerton,” but fans will have to wait patiently before they can return to the fan favorite series. Shonda Rhimes’ hit series has been renewed for Seasons 5 and 6 by Netflix, the streamer announced Wednesday during its Upfronts presentation, while the much-anticipated Season 4 will not premiere on Netflix until next year, in 2026.

The hope and expectation is that the streamer will eventually adapt all eight books in Julia Quinn’s romance books, each one about a different sibling in the Bridgerton family. So that’s just two more siblings left to get the official green light, but considering that “Bridgerton” is one of the most successful shows in Netflix history, we feel good about its future prospects, even that far down the road.

Still a question? Which siblings’ stories will be adapted for the fifth and sixth seasons, because while the streamer has so far adapted the first four books in Quinn’s series, Netflix did initially skip over Quinn’s third book (“An Offer from a Gentleman,” aka Benedict’s story) to use the fourth book in the series (“Romancing Mister Bridgerton,” aka Colin’s story) as the inspiration for the third season of the show.

Despite that shuffling, Benedict’s story is next on deck for Season 4. During a February event held in London, current showrunner Jess Brownell teased that the forthcoming season is the “Bridgerton” season most “faithful” to the respective novel, and one that will kick off with a masquerade ball.

Here’s the official logline: “The fourth season of Bridgerton turns its focus to bohemian second son Benedict. Despite his elder and younger brothers both being happily married, Benedict is loath to settle down — until he meets a captivating Lady in Silver at his mother’s masquerade ball.”

Netflix also teased a little footage during its Upfronts, which featured Season 4 leads Luke Thompson as Benedict Bridgerton and Yerin Ha as his love interest, Sophie Baek.
