Since 2018, pups and parents have turned to Joe Brumm’s Bluey for seven-minute doses of laughter, comfort, and life lessons.
The mega-popular Australian animated series centers on an adorable, energetic Blue Heeler puppy named Bluey who uses her imagination to make every day with her family (Mum, Dad, and little sister Bingo) a memorable adventure.
The award-winning show, which premiered on ABC Kids before launching internationally on Disney Junior and Disney+, has garnered widespread acclaim for its layered storytelling, positive messages, and realistic depiction of modern family life. Its voice cast includes David McCormack, Melanie Zanetti, Patrick Brammall, Claudia O’Doherty, and more. (Bluey, Bingo, and their pals are voiced by child actors who remain uncredited to protect their privacy.)
In December 2024, a feature-length Bluey film was announced. Brumm will write and co-direct the movie, which is set for release in 2027. But before Bluey and her friends get the big-screen treatment, Entertainment Weekly breaks down the voice cast behind the smash-hit series.
Bandit — David McCormack
Disney ; Custard Instagram
David McCormack voices the lovable Heeler family patriarch Bandit (a.k.a. Dad), a hardworking archaeologist and dedicated father to Bluey and Bingo.
Outside of Bluey, McCormack is best known as the frontman for Australian rock band Custard. Viewers might also recognize him from Max’s Adventure Time: Fionna and Cake (2023), in which he guest-starred as the cosmic entity Orbo. While details of the upcoming Bluey movie are largely under wraps, McCormack is confirmed to reprise his role on the big screen. Expect plenty of dad jokes and “Oh, biscuits!” outbursts.
Chilli — Melanie Zanetti
Disney ; Steve Granitz/FilmMagic
Before she was the voice of Bluey and Bingo’s mum, Melanie Zanetti was a regular performer for the Queensland Theatre Company in Brisbane, Australia.
In addition to Bluey, she’s led the Gabriel’s Inferno film series — with nine installments and counting — based on the popular series of romance novels. The Aussie actress also played dual roles in the postapocalyptic adventure movie Love and Monsters (2020), alongside Dylan O’Brien.
Fortunately, both Heeler parents are set to return for the Bluey movie. In December, Zanetti shared a photo of her and McCormack on Instagram, saying she’s “very excited” about the show’s upcoming leap to the silver screen.
Uncle Stripe — Dan Brumm
ABC Kids ; Dan Brumm Instagram
It’s hard to imagine a more fitting voice for Uncle Stripe than Dan Brumm, the real-life brother of Bluey’s creator.
In addition to playing Bandit’s younger brother (and the father of Bluey and Bingo’s cousins, Muffin and Socks) the actor doubles as the show’s sound designer. Brumm has other voice credits in projects like Atlantis Rocks (2024), A Sloth Story (2024), and the educational YouTube series Professor Eggtop’s Extraordinary Experiments! (2023).
Although he’s not confirmed to appear in the Bluey movie (yet), he did share an Instagram post about the film in December, so his involvement seems promising.
Aunt Trixie — Myf Warhurst

Australian broadcaster Myf Warhurst shines as Aunt Trixie, the fun-loving wife of Uncle Stripe and mother of Muffin and Socks.
The radio and TV personality is a regular presenter on the newscast The Project. She’s also known for the music-themed quiz show Spicks and Specks. There’s no word yet on whether she’ll reprise her role as Aunt Trixie in the Bluey movie, but the actress has been front-and-center in the show’s promotional events, so fingers crossed.
Uncle Radley — Patrick Brammall
ABC Kids ; Patrick Brammall/Instagram
Patrick Brammall, co-creator and star of Colin From Accounts (2022–present), proves his wide range as the voice of Uncle Radley “Rad” Heeler, Bandit and Stripe’s laid-back older brother.
The Australian TV veteran landed a signature role on A Moody Christmas (2012) and its follow-up series, The Moodys (2014), but has found a foothold on American screens as well. He was a recurring character on the demented supernatural procedural Evil (2019–2024) and guest starred on New Girl (2016), Lodge 49 (2019), and Life in Pieces (2016).
Brammall even bridged that continental gap, developing and starring in the Aussie cop sitcom No Activity and its American remake, alongside Tim Meadows and Amy Sedaris.
The actor isn’t confirmed for the Bluey movie, but he’s proudly called voicing Uncle Rad “the high point of my career.”
Frisky — Claudia O’Doherty

Claudia O’Doherty brings her comedy chops to Bluey as the voice of Frisky, Bluey and Bingo’s godmother. She officially joined the Heeler family in the special 28-minute episode “The Sign,” which saw her and Uncle Rad tie the knot.
The Australian comedian has made a name for herself on TV as a writer (earning an Emmy nomination for Inside Amy Schumer) and a performer. She was a regular on the Judd Apatow-produced Love (2016–2018) alongside Gillian Jacobs and co-headlined the sitcom Killing It (2022–2023) with Craig Robinson. O’Doherty had a run on Our Flag Means Death (2022) and also booked small parts rom-coms like Trainwreck (2015) and Long Shot (2019).
Chris/Nana — Chris Brumm
Ludo Studio
Last but certainly not least, Chris Brumm rounds out the cast as Chris (a.k.a. Nana) — mother to Bandit, Stripe, and Rad, grandmother to Bluey, Bingo, Muffin, and Socks. The best thing about Nana’s casting? Brumm is the real-life mother of Bluey’s creator. Time will tell if she’ll make an appearance in the feature film, but either way, she holds a very special place in the Bluey universe.
