Billy Crystal reveals his Pacific Palisades home has burned down

The Pacific Palisades home Billy Crystal and wife Janice have lived in since 1979 has burned down amid the wildfires raging across Los Angeles County.

In a statement shared with Entertainment Weekly, the Crystal wites, “Words cannot describe the enormity of the devastation we are witnessing and experiencing. We ache for our friends and neighbors who have also lost their homes and businesses in this tragedy.”

“Janice and I lived in our home since 1979,” the statement continues. “We raised our children and grandchildren here. Every inch of our house was filled with love. Beautiful memories that can’t be taken away. We are heartbroken of course but with the love of our children and friends we will get through this.”

“We pray for the safety of the fire fighters and first responders. The Pacific Palisades is a resilient community of amazing people and we know in time it will rise again. It is our home,” Crystal concluded in his statement.

The Los Angeles Fire Department says that the Palisades Fire started at 10:30am yesterday near North Piedra Mondra Dr. What began as a 200-acre fire has exploded into a 15,000-acre blaze that has destroyed over 1,000 structures and forced the evacuations of thousands of residents.

The Palisades Fire is one of several currently burning throughout Los Angeles County, including the Eaton Fire, stretching from Burbank to Duarte, and the Antelope Valley Lidia Fire.

“We moved here in ’79 because we had little kids at the time,” Crystal told AP in 2018. “It’s a wonderful place for families, and it’s always remained that for us. Now we bring our grandchildren here.”

Crystal is one of several Palisades residents who have lost their homes in the fire. James Woods broke down on air with CNN on Wednesday as “our beautiful little house” burnt to the ground. General Hospital actor Cameron Mathison shared a video on his Instagram of a leveled structure covered in burning embers, calling it “what’s left of our beautiful home.”
