Barbra Streisand Reveals A New Album With Ariana Grande And Paul McCartney Duets

At 83, it’s understandable that Barbra Streisand isn’t working at the same pace she did decades ago when she first began her music career. In the early days, Streisand released multiple albums a year — especially throughout the 1960s. For quite a while, she was both recording and releasing music while also starring in films.

These days, she spaces her projects out further and further apart, and the focus is back to music instead of across all forms of entertainment. Fans have been waiting for years for a new full-length from the superstar musician — but now, they won’t have to hold on for much longer.

Streisand has announced a new album, The Secret of Life: Partners, Volume 2. The full-length is a collaborative project that sees Streisand teaming up with a different superstar artist on each of the 11 tracks. In the latter part of her career, Streisand has focused more on collaborations, which has been exciting for many reasons. Considering the fact that she’s one of the most successful and beloved musicians of all time, it’s not hard for her to reach out and receive quick yeses from some of the biggest names in the industry.

The Secret of Life features Streisand joining forces with a wide variety of musical talents. The list of collaborators includes legends who have been working for decades, as well as relatively new faces, with names spanning multiple genres. Time-tested acts like James Taylor, Sting, Paul McCartney, and Bob Dylan appear on the same album as more recent stars like Laufey and Hozier. Ariana Grande and Mariah Carey even join forces with Streisand on “One Heart, One Voice,” a track where all three women are sure to sing their hearts out.

The first single from the upcoming album is a cover of Roberta Flack’s “The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face,” a duet between Streisand and Hozier. Flack passed away just a few months ago, and the timing of this release honors the late singer-songwriter.

The Secret of Life is Streisand’s first album since 2018’s Walls. It’s the third to feature the word “partners,” suggesting an unofficial series, even though they aren’t titled as such. She began this run in 2014 with the simply-named Partners, which included duets with Billy Joel, Lionel Richie, Michael Bublé, Stevie Wonder, and even Elvis Presley — though of course, not a newly recorded one. Two years later, Streisand released Encore: Movie Partners Sing Broadway, which featured collaborations with actors who also perform music, such as Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Jamie Foxx, and Chris Pine.

This new album, which is reportedly a sequel to Partners (but not quite to Encore), is expected to be released on June 27, 2025.
