If you keep a frozen meal or two in the freezer for dinnertime emergencies, you may want to check your stash. According to an announcement from the Food & Drug Administration (FDA), Nestlé is voluntarily recalling a limited quantity of Lean Cuisine and Stouffer’s frozen meals due to the potential presence of a wood-like material.
Per the FDA, the now-recalled meals include Lean Cuisine Butternut Squash Ravioli, Lean Cuisine Spinach Artichoke Ravioli, Lean Cuisine Lemon Garlic Shrimp Stir Fry, and Stouffer’s Party Size Chicken Lasagna. These frozen entrees were produced between August 2024 and March 2025, and were distributed to major retailers across the country, including Walmart, Publix, Kroger, and more, between September 2024 and March 2025.

This recall, which does not involve any other Lean Cuisine or Stouffer’s products, was initiated after consumers contacted Nestlé USA about this issue. The FDA notes that there has been one potential choking incident related to this recall to date.
The FDA warns that consumers who have purchased these products should not prepare or consume them, and should instead return them to the retailer from which they were purchased for a replacement or a full refund.
“We are actively investigating the source of the wood-like material. We are confident that this is an isolated issue, and we have taken action to address it,” a spokesperson for Nestlé said in a statement. “We are working with the U.S. Food & Drug Administration and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) on this recall, and will cooperate with them fully.”
The statement continued: “The quality, safety, and integrity of our products remain our number one priority. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this action represents to both our consumers and retail customers.”
Consumers with questions about this recall can contact Nestlé USA at (800) 681-1676 Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. EST.
