Nicole Kidman Is Down to Check Into ‘The White Lotus’ and ‘Would Do Anything’ Mike White Writes

Nicole Kidman touched down in Austin, Texas for the premiere of Mimi Cave’s sophomore feature “Holland,” co-starring Matthew Macfadyen and Gael García Bernal, at SXSW. The film follows Kidman as a paranoid teacher who suspects her husband (Macfadyen) of having an affair. She soon enlists her co-worker (Bernal) to help her discover the reality of what’s going on in her perfect suburban life.

We caught up with the Oscar-winning actor, who also produces the film under her banner Blossom Films, on the film’s red carpet on Sunday, March 9. Amid viral fan hopes and dreams, IndieWire asked if Kidman would ever be interested in joining a future season of Mike White’s Emmy-winning phenomenon, “The White Lotus.”

“I don’t think I’ve ever been asked,” Kidman told IndieWire. “I’m a massive fan of Mike White, so I would do anything he writes, because I just think he’s phenomenal. I love ‘The White Lotus.’ So there you go.”

The current season of the series follows another group of vacationers as they visit one of the White Lotus resorts in Thailand. Last week’s episode had a scene with Walton Goggins’ character where he set a bunch of snakes loose, an animal he’s terrified of. “I don’t just have a phobia — it’s like a missing link when it comes to snakes,” Goggins said. “I am terrified of snakes — really, really terrified — and there’s something, like, genetically wrong with me when it comes to snakes.”

“As I was pulling the snake out, he didn’t wanna come, right? And so he turns around and he bit me,” said Goggins. He added later of his reaction, “I wish I could’ve been cool — like I fancy myself a pretty cool guy. Like, ‘Hey, yeah, I got a snakebite.’ This was my reaction: I swear to God, it was like, ‘Oh my God, I’ve been bit by a snake! Oh my God!’”

The official synopsis for “Holland” reads: “In this wildly unpredictable thriller, Nicole Kidman is the meticulous Nancy Vandergroot, a teacher and homemaker whose picture-perfect life with her community pillar husband (Macfadyen) and son (Hill) in tulip-filled Holland, Michigan tumbles into a twisted tale. Nancy and her friendly colleague (Bernal) become suspicious of a secret, only to discover nothing in their lives is what it seems.”

“Holland” premieres March 27 on Prime Video. Check out the trailer here.
