Kristin Davis didn’t want to break up with Alec Baldwin because of his Hamptons house

No, this is not a side plot from Sex and the City. Kristin Davis, known for her iconic role as the high-strung but beloved Charlotte York on the hit series, has revealed that she didn’t want to break up with an ex-boyfriend because she loved his house in the Hamptons too much.

The ex? Alec Baldwin.

Davis, who briefly dated the actor in 2001, opened up her adoration for his home in Amagansett, a hamlet in East Hampton, during a recent appearance on Rob Lowe‘s Literally! With Rob Lowe podcast.

“Alec Baldwin was so rich by the time I dated Alec Baldwin — can I just say that straight-out?” said Davis. “One of the best things about Alec Baldwin when I dated him is that he had the most incredible house in Amagansett.”

She recalled how she even consulted with former costar Sarah Jessica Parker on the set of Sex and the City one day about the predicament. “I was like, ‘Sarah Jessica, I don’t know if it’s going to work out with Alec, but I just really love that house,” David said. “Which is literally, like, one of the only times I have felt that way: ‘I don’t want to break up with this person because I like his house.’ It’s so embarrassing to say that out loud, but it’s true.”

The candid admission came after Lowe asked her about the unnamed actor Davis dated in the ’90s who ghosted her after she lent him money. She shared that anecdote on her own podcast, Are You a Charlotte?, last month, recounting how she gave the actor — who is “now very successful” — $5,000, only for him to “stop calling.” Davis confirmed that she was not referencing Baldwin but declined to name the mystery person on Lowe’s podcast.

“I feel so bad that I told that story, Rob,” said Davis. “Because now he’s a con artist. He was an out-of-work actor [at the time], people. I can’t name the name. I’ll tell you the next time I see you.”

Davis starred in all six seasons of SATC, the HBO dramedy about four friends navigating sex and love in New York City, between 1998 and 2004, and reprised her role in the franchise’s two movie adaptations. She returned as the character in 2021 for the SATC revival spinoff, And Just Like That, which centers on the core pals, rounded out by Parker’s Carrie and Cynthia Nixon‘s Miranda, in their 50s. Kim Cattrall, who played the fourth member of the friend group, chose not to return for the revival, save for a brief cameo, which was renewed for season 3 in 2023 and is expected to return sometime this year.
