Why Trust Us
Investopedia’s review of dental insurance for implants started with a rigorous, unbiased research process followed by analysis and scoring by staff researchers and senior editors. We considered 13 providers of dental implant coverage and 28 criteria that are important when choosing a dental policy that covers implant procedures. After collecting more than 364 key data points related to premiums, maximum benefits, implant waiting periods, implant coverage levels, and more, we scored and weighted the data to determine the best providers. Investopedia has been delivering trusted financial information since 1999 and unbiased dental insurance reviews since 2020.
How We Chose the Best Dental Insurance Companies for Implants
In putting together this list of the best dental insurance for implants, Investopedia first determined which dental insurers to review. We examined business and industry data about market share and tapped Google reviews to gauge consumer thoughts about the industry and specific insurance companies. We came up with 13 companies that offer individual dental insurance with implant coverage, excluding plans that have to be bought with Obamacare health insurance through a state or federal marketplace.
Investopedia’s research team then gathered data from company websites, media contacts, and communications with partner providers. We also analyzed three years’ worth of customer complaints made to state regulators from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC).
Staff researchers and senior editors next developed a quantitative model that scored each dental insurance provider on 28 criteria that fall into five major categories and are crucial in evaluating the company’s offerings and benefits. We weighted the five categories as follows for this article:
- Coverage: 45%
- Cost-to-Value: 35%
- Customer Satisfaction: 10%
- State Availability: 5%
- Customer Service: 5%
