Syracuse University’s Bandier Program Announces Inaugural Advisory Board

The Bandier Program for Recording and Entertainment Industries has formed its inaugural advisory board, the school announced Tuesday.

The music business program at Syracuse University’s Newhouse School has formed its first-ever advisory board comprised of alumni and experts in the music field. The group “will play important roles in shaping the future of one of the top music business programs in the country,” according to a release.

The 13-member board includes several employees of industry mainstays including Warner Chappell, Virgin Music, Sony Music Nashville, Interscope Records, Sirius XM and Sony Music Publishing. They will work with Bandier program director Bill Werde and managing director Lisa Steele to “support the program’s mission by providing mentorship and facilitating job placement,” according to a release.

“The diverse skills and career paths of the 13 inaugural members of the Advisory Board shine a light on the legacy of excellence in music business education at Syracuse University and the Newhouse School,” Dean Mark Lodato said in a statement. “On behalf of the university, let me extend our gratitude to these talented, successful professionals for taking the time to share their insights and working toward our common goal of helping Bandier students succeed.”

Bandier’s bachelor program had its first class graduate in 2011. The Newhouse School has introduced music business master’s degree program that is expected to launch in next fall semester in partnership with the College of Visual and Performing Arts.

The board includes Joey Papoutsis, Caitlin Lytle, Max Weinberg, Suryansh Singh, Tamzin Folz, Darius Baharlo, Rachel Kelly, Margaret Tomlin, Bria Lewis, Gabz Landman, Joel Klaiman, Lisa Steele, Grant Palmer, CJ Strock, Jon Cohen, Justin Shukat and Steve Magee.

The degree program is named after music publishing executive Martin Bandier, who is a life trustee at the university.
