Prime Video India is diving back into the mysterious world of Kaalipattanam with “Suzhal – The Vortex” Season 2.
The sophomore season of the critically acclaimed Tamil-language crime thriller promises to unravel a fresh mystery against the backdrop of the visually striking Ashtakaali festival. The series picks up where the first season’s climactic finale left off, with Aishwarya Rajesh’s character Nandini behind bars facing an uncertain future, while Kathir’s Sakkarai finds himself in a village harboring dark secrets. When an unexpected murder rocks the community, it threatens to expose the hidden fractures beneath Kaalipattanam’s surface.
Produced by Wallwatcher Films, the series brings back the creative duo of Pushkar and Gayatri as writers and creators, with Bramma and Sarjun KM handling directing duties. The ensemble cast sees the return of leads Kathir and Aishwarya Rajesh, alongside veteran actor Lal. New additions to the cast include Gouri Kishan, Monisha Blessy, and Samyuktha Vishwanathan, with special appearances by Manjima Mohan and Kayal Chandran.
“The first season of ‘Suzhal — The Vortex’ is a great testament to local stories breaking through at a global level,” says Nikhil Madhok, head of originals at Prime Video India. “We’re thrilled to bring a second season of this clutter-breaking series.”
Creators Pushkar and Gayatri note that the second season “delves deeper into an even darker, mysterious, and absorbing crime that is entangled with the lives of the natives of a fictional village and the visually vibrant festival of Ashtakaali.”
The series will stream in multiple Indian languages including Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, with English subtitles available for the global audience across more than 240 countries and territories.
“Suzhal – The Vortex” Season 2 premieres Feb. 28 on Prime Video.
