“The Penguin” villainess Sofia Falcone may be rotting away in Arkham Asylum — but actress Cristin Milioti wants nothing more than to see her award-winning Batman character on the big screen. After taking home Best Actress in a Limited Series (or Movie Made for Television) at the 2025 Critics Choice Awards on Friday, Milioti voiced her enthusiasm for filmmaker Matt Reeves’ broader Batman universe.
“I would love nothing more,” she said backstage, asked about reprising Sofia for a movie. “It’s my wildest dream. The day they call, I’ll be there — like when they are loading in the base camp vans, you know what I mean? It would be my wildest dream. I haven’t heard anything concrete yet, but I would love it.”
Asked in a follow-up if she had heard anything “not concrete,” Milioti laughed and said, “No, no. They’re secretive, but I would love nothing more. I would play this character for all time.”
Milioti’s “The Penguin” co-star Colin Farrell also won at the 2024 Critics Choice Awards, snagging Best Actor in the same category. Their dueling wins come on the heels of Golden Globe nominations for both performers (Farrell won), and ahead of Reeves’ next Batman movie with Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader — expected in late 2027.
“I don’t know if it’s a lesson learned. It was more luck,” Milioti said when asked what she’d taken away from working in the world of DC Comics through HBO. “I tumbled into something can be both moving and dare I say, artistically bold and also still be entertainment and operatic and pop comic. I think you can have both, and that’s such a testament to Lauren LeFranc.”
Speaking with IndieWire’s Proma Khosla in January, Milioti speculated on potential future narratives for Sofia and said, “I don’t know. It just seemed like there are infinite possibilities of where she could go. Obviously I would want to see her get out of Arkham. That’s like number one. I don’t want her in there. So I want to see her get out there, and then exact revenge. Maybe now she would be even more of a loose cannon, because before it was pretty focused on him and gaining power, but depending on what happens to her in there, it could be an even larger target. I would love to explore that.”
