Will.i.am., The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo and Emmy-winning composer Laura Karpman are all set to participate in panel discussions as part of the Lighthouse Campus Festival, set for Feb. 11-12 in Venice, California.
The two-day event, from Whalar Group and Tribeca Festival, marks the official opening of The Lighthouse Venice campus designed to bring together Los Angeles’ creators and creatives and continues Tribeca’s move into the creators space after the launch of its creators vertical last year.
The festival will include screenings, talks and workshops with talent from film, TV, music, podcasting, food and more.
In addition to the panels with will.i.am., Calo and Karpman, the festival will feature a director’s screening of Bob Trevino Likes It followed by a discussion with Tracie Laymon. Additional speakers include CEO of iHeartMedia Digital Audio Group Conal Byrn, CEO of Liquid Death Mike Cessario, contemporary artist Hebru Brantley, founder of Make Big Talk Kalina Silverman, Hayden Hillier-Smith and co-founder of Colin and Samir Colin Rosenblum.
In the wake of the Los Angeles wildfires, the Lighthouse Campus Festival aims to support displaced creators, providing them with production facilities, creative resources and space to work on their craft. And every speaker at the festival has chosen to donate their honorariums to the California Fire Foundation, helping firefighters and communities rebuild.
“We look forward to bringing a bit of Tribeca and top talent from film, TV, and music to The Lighthouse Campus Festival and into the creator space,” Jane Rosenthal, Tribeca co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises, said in a statement. “The more storytellers across disciplines come together to collaborate, share ideas, and learn from one another, the better, and Tribeca wants to help facilitate that. We need community and we need storytelling that inspires.”
Lighthouse president Jon Goss added, “We’re so grateful to open the Lighthouse Venice campus with a dynamic storytelling community that reflects how the entertainment industry is growing and evolving. Our partnership with Tribeca is vital to propelling the continued convergence between Hollywood and the social media Creator generation because our goals are exactly aligned with enabling new opportunities at that intersection. That is a core foundational component to the ecosystem we’re building.”
