Lynn Ban, Star of Netflix’s ‘Bling Empire’ and Jewelry Designer, Dies at 51

Lynn Ban, jewelry designer and star of Netflix‘s Bling Empire, has died. She was 51.

Ban’s son, Sebastian, posted to his mother’s Instagram Wednesday to share that she had died earlier this week following a skiing accident and emergency brain surgery in late December.

“My mum passed away on Monday,” he wrote. “I know she wanted to share her journey after her accident and brain surgery, so I thought she would appreciate one last post sharing the news to people who supported her.

“She was the funniest and coolest mum I could ever ask for,” he continued, with a picture of the pair together when he was young. “She took care of me, my dad, and our entire family throughout her whole life… As a final message to my mum, I would just like to say that I will miss you forever and to end in something she always told me ‘I love you more than life itself’ mum.”

On Dec. 30, Ban said that she had suffered a fall while skiing in Aspen on Christmas Eve. “At the top of the mountain I caught a tip and face planted,” Ban said on her Instagram. “Luckily I always wear a helmet, it didn’t seem that bad at the time and I was able to ski to the bottom.”

Erring on the side of caution, she explained, she went to get checked out by ski patrol for a concussion and was cleared. But Ban later went to hospital for a CAT scan and was told she had a brain bleed. “I went in a taxi with Jett and within 30 minutes they told us I had a brain bleed and needed to be airlifted to the trauma hospital,” she said. “Last thing I remember was being intubated and waking up after an emergency craniotomy with Jett by my side.”

Ban, the owner of Lynn Ban Jewelry, has been a long-running cast member of Bling Empire and the spinoff Bling Empire: New York on Netflix, following a group of rich Asian Americans in the city living their luxurious lifestyles. Her jewelry has been worn by the likes of Rihanna and Beyonce.

The Barbadian singer wrote under Sebastian’s post: “2025 is rocking me at this point! This is too much!!! Lynn you will always be our fairy godmother! Love you forever and always! Can’t believe I’m writing this in a comment section rn,” with a crying emoji, “Thank you for all the joy you brought to us!”
