Time to check your freezer (and clean out your produce drawer!) again, as a selection of different vegetable medley and carrot products were potentially contaminated with E. coli O121:H19, a dangerous strain of bacteria.

Grimmway carrots were also linked to a deadly E. coli outbreak and recall announced last month, which has sickened at least 39 people and resulted in one death. The company 4Earth Farms instituted the recall after they were informed by Grimmway Farms, who supplies their carrots, that the carrots in their mixes may be linked to that larger recall and E. coli outbreak.
The recall does not include products currently on shelves, but products you may have purchased between August and October, with best by dates between September 7, 2024, and November 2, 2024.
E. coli (aka, Escherichia coli) is a dangerous and potentially deadly bacteria that can produce severe symptoms, including dehydration, high fever, vomiting, bloody diarrhea, and abdominal cramps. Most people develop symptoms within three to four days after eating contaminated food—though the incubation period can last up to 10 days. The illness can last a week.
E. coli infection can also cause hemolytic uremic syndrome, a type of kidney failure. Symptoms of that can include easy bruising, pallor, and reduced urine output.
If you have any questions about the recall, you can contact 4Earth Farms at 855-918-1706, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. PST.
