Well, this isn’t quite the same, but it is causing quite a stir around the perception of color on TikTok. It all started when TikTok user @im.krispy made a video asking users to tell her if a chair she was giving away was blue or gray.
In her TikTok that has nearly 24 million views, she says, “Is this chair gray or blue? ‘Cause I’m giving it away to someone and I’m sending pictures and I’m like, ‘It’s a blue chair,’ and they’re like, ‘That’s gray,’ and I’m like, ‘I’m pretty sure it’s blue.’ She’s like, ‘Can you get more pictures? It’s gray.'”
“And I’m like, ‘Okay, but my couch and chair have always been blue.’ Now she’s gaslighting me, and I’m starting to believe it. Is it gray?! Is this blue or gray?” she asked.
Right away people decided the chair was gray.
And didn’t even have any hints of blue.
The majority agreed it was GRAY.
Since all this happened, it has started making other people question their ability to see gray and blue, like user @colleencapeless, who shared her couch.
People obviously had mixed opinions on this one.
But this isn’t too surprising. Research shows that people see colors differently, depending on their gender, national origin, ethnicity, geographical location, and even the language they speak.
So my gray could be your blue, and vice versa!!!
So, if all else fails, just get a neon couch, maybe that’ll help with the color discrepancy! What color do you see this couch and chair as?
