Late actor Anton Yelchin‘s parents are keeping his memory alive.
In Variety’s new profile of the Hollywood Forever Cemetery — the legendary resting place for many industry titans in Los Angeles — co-owner Tyler Cassity revealed that Yelchin’s parents, Irina and Viktor, visit the actor’s grave nearly every day, nine years after his tragic death at 27.
“I’ve never encountered a vigil like theirs,” Cassity told the outlet.
The cemetery co-owner also revealed that the Star Trek actor’s parents chose Hollywood forever as Yelchin’s final resting place due to the life-size bronze statue made in his likeness they wanted erected in his honor. According to Variety, such statues have a starting price at $95,000, and Yelchin’s family was told other local memorial parks wouldn’t allow the statue on their grounds.

The talented young star of Huff, Alpha Dog, and Charlie Bartlett was killed in a freak accident which left him pinned between his Jeep Grand Cherokee and a stone column just outside his Los Angeles home in June 2016. The car model had previously been recalled due to transmission issues.
Yelchin had completed work on a few projects prior to his death, including Star Trek Beyond, in which he reprised the role of Pavel Chekov, whom he played in the two previous films in the popular franchise. Three years after his death, Yelchin was the subject of a documentary, Love, Antosha, which honored his life and career.

In the month following his death, countless Hollywood figures paid tribute to the star, as well as his family who took out a full-page ad in an issue of The Hollywood Reporter to show their gratitude to those who mourned alongside them.
“Thank you to all of you who have sent flowers and gifts, for your condolences and kind words and to all who came to celebrate the life of our dear son, Anton,” his parents’ tribute read underneath a black-and-white photo of the actor. “We are deeply grateful for your unconditional love… He would be surprised at how many hearts and souls he touched. Thank you very much.”
