Shares of fintech firm Circle Internet Group nearly tripled in their debut Thursday on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE).
Trading under the ticker “CRCL,” shares of the USDC stablecoin issuer opened at $69 after the upsized initial public offering (IPO) priced Wednesday at $31, above its expected range of $27 to $28.
Shares recently were trading hands at $88.88, up 187%.
USDC is the seventh-largest cryptocurrency, per CoinMarketCap, with a market cap of about $61.5 billion.
The price of bitcoin, the largest cryptocurrency, recently was trading at a little over $103,000, down 1.6% on the day.
