Nvidia (NVDA) and longtime partner Foxconn said they will build an AI factory supercomputer in Taiwan.
On Sunday, Nvidia and the Taiwanese company said they would work with Taiwan’s government to build an AI factory made up of 10,000 Nvidia Blackwell GPUs. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSM), meanwhile, will use the AI system the two create to advance its research and development.
“By building this AI factory with NVIDIA and TSMC, we are laying the groundwork to connect people in Taiwan as well as government organizations and enterprises such as TSMC to accelerate innovation and empower industries,” Foxconn CEO Young Liu said.
Last month, Nvidia said it planned to build AI supercomputers entirely in the U.S., with the chipmaker and its partners set to invest up to $500 billion in American AI infrastructure over the next four years.
Nvidia shares, which entered Monday little changed this year, fell 3% in premarket trading.
