“Isolation exercises” contrast with compound movements, targeting specific muscle groups. Terms like “arm day” or “leg day” reflect training approaches that focus intensely on particular muscle groups, allowing for targeted development and recovery.

“Free weights” versus “machines” represents another linguistic divide in training philosophy. Free weights are praised for requiring more stabilizer muscle engagement and providing a more natural range of motion, while machines offer more controlled, targeted muscle work.
