Being a food stylist means you spend a lot of time at the grocery store, and since the grocery store can be my personal hell, I try to spend as little time there as possible.
Once in a while, I’ll use a grocery delivery app, but most of the time, I need to “hand shop” my items to make sure they’re camera-ready (and within budget). There’s nothing worse than getting a bruised avocado or ugly lettuce that simply won’t work on camera. Even when the veggies aren’t going on camera, groceries are too expensive these days to waste money on low-quality products.

1.
Always make a list and sort it by department.
2.
Shop various departments in a logical fashion.
3.
Bring your own bags and bag your own groceries.
